Those woofers are not original. I wouldn't pay near that much. Also, I couldn't tell by the photos, but those may be in need of a refoam as ALL of the original drivers on the Imp 9's were foam.
I have never seen Imperial 9's either and was of the belief that the Imperials stopped at the 8's.
The is an AK thread already on my Imperial 8's.
The 9's have an extra mid-range...Wonder if that is an extra woofer or a PR?
The 8's are pretty decent sound-wise. Wonder how different the sound is or if the 9's were just from the 'if some's good, more must be better' school of marketing.
I have a set of 7's and while not a bad sounding speaker they usually sell for around $100-125 on the bay.I can't see these sounding much better. Not $850 thats for sure.
Ive had 5's 6's and 7's and my opinion of them is like the old Steve Martin joke about airplane food:They took a picture of the JBL L series, and tried to recreate the sound from the picture. They arent bad speakers, but anything in the L series walks all over them.$850?I dont even know if Id take a chance at $85
I thought the woofers may not be original. I had a pair of 7's. Picked them up for $10, then gave them to a friend. They were not bad speakers, just not great.
