I'm the one selling the equipment. I know it's worth more but I'm looking for a quick sale and really, really don't want to pack this equipment up (especially the speakers) so wanted to find someone local.

We are in the process of getting our house ready to sell and are trying to declutter and eliminate excess items.

Strollin, I hope that an AK'er can pick this set up. You are a subscriber, how about posting in BarterTown? If I was close this set would be all mine. I had the AR9's and loved them.

The foam on the woofers and mid is definitely shot. I powered the amp/preamp up this morning for the first time in 20 years because I have someone coming to look at it. The front panel power light for the amp comes on but no output. If I crank up the volume I can hear the music playing faintly, I think that's just the output of the preamp being passed thru. I plugged the Thoebe's output into the AUX input of a cheapo Sherwood receiver I had laying around, at least the guy can see/hear that the preamp and turntable work!

I found another component of this system this morning that I had completely forgotten about, a Sony CDP-670 CD player.

Not sure if the guy coming today realizes the potential for this system even though it needs to be restored.

The guy that came this morning to look at the system just left with it. He showed up with a Ford Taurus. I was amazed that he got all of it in his car. He did need to disassemble the rack and he flattened the speaker boxes because they would not fit.

He tried to negotiate a lower price but I told him I thought the price was already very low and that I had taken into account the speakers and amp had to be restored. He ended up agreeing with me and gave me my asking price.

How it the living heck did he get the AR9's into a Taurus? I've driven that car and I have a pair of those. I'm telling you, this guy has game.
