Marantz LS17a speakers

They strike me as love them or hate them speakers -- the blue kabuki thing will excite or appall as the case may be. They are so vivid physically that the sound may be of secondary importance. So the value probably is utterly dependent on who you are trying to sell them to.

hey rich

bring em on up here to lake george, i will evaluate them for a year or three LOL...........t

I have a pair of these, that I had refoamed less than a year ago,in very good condition.I'd like to know what they are worth,or what you may THINK they are worth. Thanks:music:

What year are these puppies?

Bought Marantz 900 series speakers in 1981. $225 for the pair on sale. Loved playing with the Vari-Q woofer action. So Marantz brand gives me a warm and fuzzy.

I think they are gorgeous! :thmbsp:

richd860,
I know this is an old post. Where did you get the LS17A's refoamed? Did you buy a kit or have someone do it. I have a set of these and just lost the foam on them. I'd like to keep them.

Hi Paul and welcome to AK!

Wow, my eyes had almost recovered from Rich's original post and pic!

Those surrounds don't really look that special or out-of-the-ordinary. I'd send a message with your measurements to seller looneytune2001 on eBay. Rick is very good at sourcing proper replacements and is highly regarded here.

Dave

Thanks for the reply. I sent a message to Rick. See what happens.
Rich also replied to a pm I sent to him for another source.

I did get the surrounds installed. Kind of a time consuming job and they were not a perfect match but they are in and working.

I know this posting started quit awhile age. I am not sure these are even American Market speakers. They are definitely after the HD/DS years if Dr May, the philips version were adiquite at best. I was not happy with the sound of any Marantz american speakers after 81. IMHO. From the country's I an finding fir sale in , I think , (not sure) they these are mid/hi end phillips Euro design. This is just an educated guess from guys they were in germany in the 80s buy audio at the PX in Germany and England. I will post more when I find out. Pat b
