Marantz M16 Speakers

dgunnr

Marantz Owner
My latest and maybe last find. I just bought a set of the Marantz M16's. This would be the finest of legendary JBL/Marantz designer Ed Mays work before he passed away in 1980. I also own the model 600 speakers which have the same mid, tweeter and super tweeter but with a 10" Bass.

Specs are 20 HZ to 28 KHZ at 8 OHMS! I would love to know how this compares to some higher end speakers today or from that era. T

From looking at the internet there is not much information on these (or the 600's) at all. The Ed May designs are so under appreciated although I am seeing a huge demand for Marantz speakers items on E-Bay now. Over the past 3 years I have only seen one other set of M16 and two sets of 600's for sale on any website.

These speakers really rock!!!

Sneaky, very Sneaky :D

Saw a pair on my local CL. The guy must have used "Vintage" 25 times. Had to laugh. The price was laughable too.

Very Nice. Good Luck with them.

Nice speakers. I just recently acquired a pair. I believe you have them setup reversed? The speakers should be on the inside, I believe.

Wow nice collection!! Thank you for the headsup. I just had all (M-16, Series 600, DS-940 and HD-880's) of my speakers restored with audio grade capacitors including the M-16's. What a difference. By chance where did you get the M-16's (Florida by chance??) and do you have any owners manual information at all?? Thanks, Dennis.
