Marantz Model Thirty-Two Amplifier

OK folks. I have purchased a Marantz Model 32 in its wood case from a friend of a friend. I have never put together separates before. All I have done is hire a guy to help me connect my old 2325 receiver to my TV and DVD player and whatnot. He worked it out great.

But what I want to do now is put together a separates system in my master bedroom. My question sounds stupid I'm sure, but here goes: what is it that I need, in addition to the 32 I already have, to get going? I mean, in other words, what does the 32 connect to? And what then does that connect to? And so on?

My goal is to accomplish what I have with my 2325 in my den. And that is, I can run my AM, FM, cable TV, DVD, iPhone, and record player all through my Marantz 2325 receiver. It really is quite incredible the flexibility the receiver gives me.

But now, since I've got this Model 32 amplifier and I thought it would be fun to actually put together a system of separates, I would like to at least try it, in an attempt to accomplish the above, albeit in a separate room.

So what do I need to be on the lookout for? A tuner? a power amp (is that the same or different than the model 32 amp)? Another receiver? Etc.? Etc.?

Does that make sense guys? Please let me know if you have any thoughts for a long-time Marantz lover who isn't necessarily that educated on the technicalities associated with putting a vintage stereo system together.

The model 32 is a power amp only, meaning you have, as you noticed, no control over anything. A pre amp is needed. This will give you the flexibility you will need to hook up all your gear into it.

cd players ect, hook up to the pre amp, the pre amp hooks into your 32, then on to the speakers. At the least, you will need,

Pre amp, Such as a marantz 3200
Tuner, such as a Marantz model 20, 105b, etc long list

As far as hooking it up to your TV, look into using a Niles TVA20. You will smoke your tv or amp if you hook it up direct without a switcher:tears:

The matching pre-amp for your Model 32 Amplifier is the Model 33 Pre-Amp

The Model 33 is a great early pre-amp and it includes its own built-in headphone amplifier.

The next closest model to the 33 would be a Model 3300
