Marantz NR1501 shuts down to blinking standby

One day my Marantz NR1501 only showed a blinking standby led when powered on.
Nothing strange happened the day before. I had no complaints about sound or other functions.

If I reset the unit by using the menu and cursor buttons and power it on, I see the FM radio on display and I'm able to push buttons to set modes. But within 2-3 seconds it shuts down to the same blinking standby led (I think just before the power amp relays should click).
The time is way to short to do some diagnostics or measurements.

I found a 4.7nF cap on the standby board being degraded to 3.8nF so I replaced it, but it didn't help anything.

Adding the well known caps on the HDMI board did not help either. Removing the HDMI board completely and then powering on the unit also does not change a thing, same issue.

I'm stuck what else I can do to keep the amp running.
Am I allowed to run the unit without power amp (by pulling the B+/B- plug from the power amplifier board)? This way I could rule out the power amp being defective.

Thanks in advance for all your thoughts on this, any idea is much appreciated.

Regards,
Jack
