Marantz receiver vs 1060

I have a 1060, a 2232b and a 2252b. All need work so I can't compare them accurately. My question is- is the pre amp and amp function of either reciever similar in sound and quality to the 1060 or is the 1060 superior to these receivers (at least when they are all brought back to life!). And while I am at it, I also have a marantz 125 that needs work, Any marantz experts out there? I am in western new england. Thanks Norm

Those two receivers should be "better" than the 1060. Clearer sound, more detail. The 1060 is warmer however, which you might like.

Not sure I would agree with this statement. I own a Marantz 1060, 2230 receiver, and a 2252B receiver. They all sound very good, but the little 1060 has something special about its sound. It's hard to beat for sound quality for lower powered gear IMOH. Of course your ears are different than mine and there is no definitively correct answer to this question. Enjoy the

The later receiver units differ slighthly in both preamp and amp.

Your 2215 should sound very similar to the 2230, IIRC.

Small point, the 1060 uses the same circuitry, but not the same board layout as the 2230.

Really? That's the first time I've heard that. I've never had the chance to compare the two but I know the little 2215 sounds great.:thmbsp:

Hey Guys,
Kinda dumb/quick question: The minimum load on the PM8004 is 4 ohms. It is ok to hook up the Epic 2s (4 ohms) along with a powered sub, right? The sub won't put any drain on the amp, will it?

Does the 1060 sound close to the 2225

Hi Guys,
I currently own a Marantz 2225 and have been searching for a 1060 for some time. Previous comments say that the 2230 would sound the same to an 1060. Would this apply also to the 2225?
The 1060 looks great but don't want to wast my time searching for one or paying big dollars if they sound the same.

Agree....Have "3" 1060 and "2" 2230, 4270 and 1250

I like the 2230, it is the most over built Marantz I have seen. It is on the same chassis as the 2245/2270. The 1060 uses a single amp board, the 2230 uses 2, and plenty of space for cooling.
