Marantz SA-KI Ruby as a DAC

Is anyone using a Ruby as a DAC in their system? I'm currently using a ND8006 as a player and its USB in for local files via iTunes, it sounds great. I've read the Ruby uses it's own MMM conversion and wondered if anyone had upgraded from a ND8006 or N30 and had thoughts about the sound of the Ruby. Thank you!

Not a Ruby, but I have my Maranta SA8005 set up to function as both disc player and outboard DAC for a Bluesound Node 2i. Works and sounds great, too.

Thank you @Tedrick ! I took a chance with the ND8006 without hearing it first, has been great so far. Cool to hear others experiences using Marantz as a player and DAC.

I’m using my Marantz SA8004 as a DAC feeding it USB from an old MacBook Pro. It sounds pretty dang good, and I found it clearly better than Schitt Bifrost. I have a Geshelli Labs J2 arriving next week, and I’ll be comparing it to the 8004. I would love to get my hands on an SA-KI. I’ve been searching for a review using it as a DAC, but I haven’t seen anyone even mention it.

I have the Ruby and do use it as a DAC for both older SACD players with out dated DACs and with the wiim streamer. The DAC in the Ruby is outstanding!

Reading the Steve huff review only makes me want it more. I wish I could swing the terminator, but I just can’t jump to that level. Pontus is hit on my list.
