Marantz "Safety Capacitor"

While doing my recap on the 2245, I decided to replace the power switch that was giving me problems. I sourced the new switch from ebay however, some vendors on ebay are including a "safety capacitor"

example:

I am assuming that the capacitor in question is the orange box that jumps two of the pins on the switch.

my questions are:

- Is it OK to reuse the old "safety capacitor" or should I replace.

- If I need to replace, anyone know a value or part number?

- how do you make the old push button cap fit the new switch? The post on the new switch is much smaller than the OEM one.

Thanks!

Don't know if that's a safety cap, maybe it is. I thought the x1 y2 cap was used in tube amps. My guess would be its a filter cap to eliminate speaker thump when turning the unit off. When I did the power switch in my 2245, dgwojo supplied the switch and cap. The one that came out also had this cap. The original Iirc is a slotted button which I ended up using the square style button found on the other switch controls.

The service manual shows that the capacitor on the switch (C004) is a 0.056uf 800 VAC oil in paper cap. These tend to be hygroscopic and could be replaced with a plastic film cap of the same rating
