First tread and first recap
i would need some advise for choosing the right type of capacitors to recap Marantz SR4000. Ive read many post on this forum and learned a lot but still not sure what type of caps use as i dont understand enough the design of amplifier.
In all the posts i could find people using different versions of caps for power supply and signal path. This amplifier has power supply board together with main amp so im not sure if i should be using the same type of caps for the whole board or if there is also signal path involved?
I will do just this board for now, but i would like to order the caps for the whole unit and do it in the future. The main reason is that there is one leaking cap from the top and one of the main 10 000 uf filter caps is bulky on the top as well. They still read well but dont want to wait until they go bad completely. The DC offsets are 33mv and 50mv so i guess it ok as well but this amplifier is full of chips and i would like to risk loosing some if i leave it as it is .
I will be using Nichicon kgs for the main filter caps, Nichicon PW (or KL better?) for power board and ELNA Silmic II for the rest and Wima MKS2 for the little uf, if available. If you please could correct me where is needed.
I understand that it might be time consuming look at everything so if you could me some general advise ? Or perhaps mark for me the signal path in the pictures? Or should i use just all purpose Nichicon for everything and dont worry too much about it?
Can it be so generalize, that for all caps smaller than 4.7 i can use wima mks2?
