I have a Marantz SR 8000 receiver good machine except for the On?Off switch. When I turn off the receiver has a loud pop noise. What would be causing this problem?
Regards,
jd
Dirty or corroded contacts in switch, Dexoit sprayed into it ( if possible) followed by turning on/off 10-20 times (unit powered OFF) is something to try. If it is a sealed switch, try to find a replacement, or do surgery to get Deoxit into it. In my limited experience, a popping sound can be due to electrical charge building up on dirt or corrosion, and then releasing with a popping sound.
