Marantz sr5003 problem

Hi everyone,

I’m having an issue with my Marantz SR5003 and could really use some help.

A while ago, the amplifier started making a loud humming noise, so I stopped using it and left it unused for about 2 years. Recently, I decided to repair it and replaced the power amplifier transistors.

After putting everything back together, the receiver powered on and seemed to work, but I noticed a problem with audio detection. When using my PS4:

  • Linear PCM was detected but no sound
  • But with Dolby or DTS, there was no sound and detection at all
  • neither through HDMI nor SPDIF.

Today, I tried turning it on again and wanted to perform a factory reset. However, after the reset, the unit shut off and now only the standby light is blinking steadily. The relay does not click at all, and the receiver does not start.

Has anyone experienced something similar or knows what could be causing this issue?

The blinking light may mean you are in protect mode. Disconnect all of the speakers, all input cables, and network connections... nothing connected?
Turn-on power and reset by holding down the AUTO, EXIT, & CLEAR buttons simultaneously and holding them down for 5 seconds. Anything happen?
If nothing, then unplug the AC from the wall outlet and let it sit unplugged for a couple of hours, then try to turn it on again. What happens?

I already tried that

I already did that — I disconnected it, and this morning I restarted it. It turned on properly for about 3–4 seconds, then shut down. Every time it stays off for a longer moment, the display shows an image briefly when I turn it back on. Only the power supply is connected.

The SR5003 User Guide says to reset, with the unit on, hold the SURROUND MODE + CLEAR buttons for 3 seconds. Have you tried this also?
