Hi all
I dig that post up because its the closest one treatiing of my issue .
I recently got a 1060 , the volume pot was gone ( it made noise from the metal wipers scratching onto the carbone tracks and was giving trouble to have a stable good sound in both channels ) , i therefore decided to change it , got an alp blue 250 k and a khozmo 250 k from a friend , for now i tried the blue alp because the Kozmo is slighty too big to fit in there ( i might get to fit it in when i fully dismantle the amp on a future planned recap ) .
Both of those new pots have 6 pins ( i mean 3 times 2 since they are dual ) , but the original pot had 6 pins in front plus 2 wires at back ( red and white ) , now since the 1060 has loudness tap volume feature ( couldnt find much infos on the topic ) i just wrapped those two wires together ( unconected to each other thougth ) and just dealt with the 6 frontal pins rewirering as they were on the original pot regardless of the two back pins .
Now I face two different issues , sound quality seems to be overall somehow affected by the pot change , its hard to describe ,but i fell it doesnt sound as sweet as it did before the operation . Also the loudnees push button doesnt do anything when its pressed , I never uses loudness anyway , but it would seem that the sound has a mild loudness on it .
Using the alp blue is tricky i read you should purchase several to find a decent one , a friend had those lying around so I didnt have much options he only had the one ... Could the alp blue random quality be responsible for the poorer sound quality ?
Those two extra wires on the original pot , wich i still believe are responsible for loudness tap , do they need to be left as it is or do they need to be connected together ? I guess that might be source of my issue , its late here but I thought I might aswell ask before bed time I migh just try connect them in the morning !
Thanks in advance for your thoughts !
Happy hollidays
