Marantz wood cabinet question

Hi there, saw this listing and had a few questions about it https://www.ebay.com/itm/MARANTZ-WO...140104?hash=item2ad94a1fc8:g:wQUAAOSw2Zldy28Z

Did Marantz actually do cherry cases or am I right in thinking it is just walnut with the varnish oranged over time like many others? Also, the seller has some screws near where the face sits. Any reason for this? Did some require screws or is this likely a previous owner addition? It has an adjustable back so it would be the 1U variant which I am looking for.

Thanks

It looks original to me. I have a 1200 integrated that fits a WC-1 and has holes at each corner of the faceplate for screws like that. They connect the faceplate to the case. I'm assuming these serve the same purpose. Here is the 1200 where you can see the screw holes.

I'm pretty sure that's a WC-1U given the adjustable crossbar on the bottom.

i agree it looks original to me as well i have the WC-1U on my 4140 and thats how the inside looked. strange i didnt take a pic of the inside but i have one of the outside. it doesnt attach with screws to the front but thats how my 7C attaches and the WC-1U was made to fit a bunch of different units so thats no unusual. Hey Steve its been awhile since you saw this.

One of these days, Chris. One of these days.....:whip:

Thanks. Am I correct in thinking this is walnut, not cherry? I did not think there were cherry cases..

Well, I went ahead and purchased. Three down, two more to go (still need another WC-1U and a WC-15T).
