Marvin Gaye - What's Going on CD

c.coyle

Fighting the Dunning-Kruger effect.
I had this on vinyl 30 years ago, and want to purchase it on CD. It looks as though there are several CD versions that differ from the original studio recording [EDIT: Meaning they aren't musically identical to the tracks on the original LP. Same tune, different version]. From poking around on Discogs, it looks like the "real" CD is Motown 440 064 022-2.

Can anybody confirm this or otherwise point me in the right direction?

I have this one in my hand right now, but I don't know what you mean by "Real CD"?

I don't know if I do either! Some of the CD reviews on Amazon and Amoeba say that their CD had a different version of one cut or another. Some say their CD isn't a studio version at all, but a poor quality live recording. And there is at least one German CD that is $35 bucks.

And, it looks like there was a re-issue CD with a couple bonus tracks. That would be nice if the basic CD is musically the same as the original vinyl, but not essential.
