Hi,
I'm really new to this hobby so please don't mind my noob questions.
I recently purchased an old pair of Onkyo D500ii liverpool speakers. As the speakers sounded really weird, I opened them up and to my dismay, the crossovers are missing inside the cabinet.
I am hoping to find the original crossovers but no luck so far. Hence I'm planning to get a set of aftermarket crossovers for the time being.
My questions are:
1. The tweeter and woofer drivers are both rated at 50w 5ohms (although the sticker on the cabinet states 6ohms), crossover frequency 2500hz. What impedance crossover is suited for these? The ones I found are either 4 or 8ohms.
2. If I get a crossover rated at 8ohm, do I have to connect a 3ohm power resistor in series to bring up the impedance to match the crossover?
3. Or should I get a crossover with 4ohm rating instead since 5ohm is pretty close to 4ohm?
Appreciate any kind inputs please.
