Matching amp for Mirage M7si

volumexD

Active Member
Hello Audiokarma members. I am in a little need of help.
Right now i currently own a yamaha CA 610 and see the recommended amplification for the Mirage M7si is a minimum of 50 watts.
Would anything bad happen if i wire up my CA 610 to these beasts?

Yes. You might like the results.:D

Seriously, what sort of harm do you think may happen?

About the worst that could happen is that you find the Yammie doesn't have enough power.

If you turn it up and it starts to sound bad simply turn it down. Nez pas?

I don't know online i have been reading these crazy things like people matching low output amplifiers with high demanding speakers and apparently coils and stuff burning.
I wouldn't want to replace my CA 610 with anything except for another CA series amplifier anyways :]
thanks!

Voice coils are in speakers. Blowing or burning them up won't necessarily impact on a receiver or integrated amplifier.

The only thing you really need to remember is, "If it starts to sound bad, lower the volume.".

As already stated if you can't get enough clean volume then get more power. In that case I would be looking for 100WPC or more.

Agreed, the worst thing is they might not sound their absolute best or won't play as loud as you might like, if it sounds good it is fine, if it sounds strained or starting to distort then back off the volume and look for more power. Your not going to burn a voice coil with too little power if everything sounds fine. Not sure what your amp puts out but 25 watts is about only about 3 db less than the recommended 50.
