Matching components for Pioneer SA-940 Amp

I'm lucky enough to have a fantastic collection of vintage audio. I also do a lot of speaker repair. In my shop I have 2 SA 950 amps (same as your 940) and a matching TX 950 tuner and a SG 550 equalizer. This is what I test my repaired 8 ohm speakers on. I also have some good amps also. These 70wpc amps are great. Fantastic sound. I'm thinking of using them in a home theater set up. The fact that they are small will help me with my upstairs surround set up.

Hello loose ends =]

I agree that these amps sounds great. the SA-950 seems to be the 940 with a different faceplate. I picked up mine for $40+shipping. I think that was a pretty good deal considering how nice it sounds.

I will look into some of those components you listed!

Thanks

Very good amp and well built. I purchased the SA-1040 (100 watts) which is one amp up from the 940 as part of the Pioneer Syscom units. I still have the A9000 unit with all components working just fine. Also, have all the manuals, boxes and sales brochure with all the systems. Purchased the A9000 system in 1984. Only unit I had to replace was the CT-940 tape deck. Pioneer had five different systems in this line up. The system included the amp, tuner, turntable, cassette deck, speakers and nice cabinet. Options were the SG-540 equalizer and DT-540 Timer. I purchased both items.

The 940 was part of the A7000 system which included the TX-940 tuner (same as A9000), PL-740 turntable (Same as A9000), CT-740 cassette deck, CS-A9000 speakers (Same as A9000 and awesome 150 watt speakers) and the CB-A9000 cabinet.

PM me and I can scan in the sales brochure if you like.
