matching serial numbers!

Hi everyone, can anyone tell me about the serial numbers on cerwin vega speakers?
do they both have to match exactly the same or can they be a genuine pair but differ slightly, im looking into buying some cv-clsc-15's but the model numbers are as follows:

A5EFT1120 A5EFT1105

thanks

you shouldn't find matching numbers since the speakers are all numbered individually. Sequential numbers are as good as it gets for a pair. Its entirely possible for them to be 15 off though. if they were originally packaged individually, its possible that the sequential speakers weren't sitting next to each other in the stock room, and when the dude grabbed a pair to sell to the customer, he simply grabbed the two that were nearest.

I don't know specifically about CV, but there were at least a few speaker companies that gave the same serial numbers to both speakers in matched pairs differentiating them only with suffixed "L & R" or "A & B" preceding or following the S/N.

For many companies serial numbering speakers was no more involved or meaningful than slapping a sticker on the cabinet, less significant than the sticker that says "genuine wood grained vinyl veneer".

I'm also aware of assembly lines where the serial numbers were assigned early in the process such that completed speakers making it to QC/testing wouldn't necessarily arrive in consecutive numerical order, and would be further shuffled by the time they were packed and shipped/wharehoused.

Westlake monitors(and many other high quality speakers) are built/assembled in "matched" pairs where ALL components are hand picked, tested, and matched. With this particular company if the serial numbers don't indicate a matching pair, something fishy has happened somewhere along the way.

Gadget pretty much nailed it above.
My Infinity RSM's have serial numbers that are about 50 speakers difference.
They were packaged individually and it's just a matter of which two boxes were picked from the stockroom.
Very possible C-V did the same.
