Maverick D1 DAC

Not to forget, those op amps need some burning in also. They should sweeten up considerably as time goes on. I do believe you'll be pleasantly surprised at the results.

I'm thinking jitter and judder is over-rated. Lots depends on what all else you're doing with the computer at the time I expect, and the quality of the hardware you're using. Probably more apparent with the higher resolution formats as those would tend to put higher demands on the audio pipeline, but I haven't noticed any "issues" with plain jane redbook. Most noticable difference has been tubes - easy to spot the differences depending on the flavor of the day. I did find a 1956 JW WE 2C51 that just flat out does it for me ... for now anyway. <G>

Then again - I just got an overseas packet in the mail today with a shiny "new" 1959 Tesla 6CC42 - that's supposed to be one of the "A" class tube choices for these things, rated as good or better than the premiere WE tubes. Haven't had a chance to give it a listen yet, but I'm prepared to be suitably impressed. Let the battle commence!

Also found an optical/coaxial expansion card that fits my computer, so have to give that a go and see if there's any noticable difference over the current USB feed. I did send an email to Ryan at Maverick a bit back asking if there was a big difference, and his basic response was ... "eh, not so's you'd notice."

Anyway ... Half the fun is experimenting ...

PS ... the RCA Command Series I mentioned earlier is gonna need some breaking in. Have to work it into the rotation, but for now it's back in the box. I can definitely see possibilities - the mids are strong, and it's a bit brighter at the top than most anything else I've tried. Could be a sleeper.
