I have heard the version with 2-8s instead of 1 6.5" and was generally impressed with the sound. Some people will find them too "analytical" or bright.

for under a c-note many would just add them to the collection as the Quart name is good. fortunately they are not the 2 Quart, but the Quart 2 speakers.

MB Quart Three is good

I have a pair of MB Quart Threes that I use every day and they sound very nice. Mine are 4 ohm speakers and when I drove them with my Fisher 400 the bass was a little loose. Then I hooked them up via a SS amp and a tube pre and they sound really good this way. The bass is much tigher and more controlled and they go pretty low too. They have a nice warm sound to them. For under $100 I would definitley take a chance on the Two's. A pair of Threes just went for $202.50 (that includes shipping) a couple of weeks ago on Ebay.

These are a local pickup and priced under 75.00 for the pair. I might just take a drive by and check them out. Thanks!

You're probably safe with early to mid 90's MB Quarts. I've heard their quality has slipped quite a bit recently. I've got Quarts in my car since 97 and they still sound good.

Is it my eyes playing tricks on me or does it look like bare wood is showing around those woofer surrounds.

Not the best picture, but those do not appear to be the orginal woofers.

IIRC, the 1, 2, & 3 had a small paper dustcap the same material as the cone.
