MB Quart owners - Raise your hands!!

Hmmm, did not know that. I thought that maxxonics was still running MB Quart. Any idea if MB Quart will still be in operation? Please let me know. I would like to know. Do you have some contacts inside the company?

Thanks

Wow, i just looked at the price of MB Quart speakers on ebay, talk about a drop in price. I remember just 5ish years ago the DSD216(now DSG216) component sent was over $200. It's $88 now!

I'd love to track down some NOS MB Quart Q stuff for my car, those speakers were amazing.

At the end of May the actual building and engineering departments of MB Quart in Germany were transferred to the new company which as I said is called German Maestro.
"GermanMAESTRO is a premium audio brand founded by members of the management and leading employees of the German MB Quart Enterprise. GermanMAESTRO will continue the proud tradition of best-in-class loudspeaker design and manufacturing in our renowned Obrigheim, Germany facility"
The name MB Quart is owned by Maxxsonics after they purchased the company from Rockford Corp. So if you want MB Quart as we knew it then you want the new brand German Maestro. FWIW anything called MB Quart that was not the Q-Line has been made in China or the US. REAL Quart is from Germany. Yes I know someone who has worked there for awhile, he is my Quart history source so to speak.

Just an update, I've managed to track down a contact at German Maestro. GM speakers are expected to go on sale here in the United States in late September, early October. The top 2 lines, the Status line and the "M" Series will be shown at CES 2009. The other two lines are the Concept and Epic. The person told me to think of it this way:

Concept - DSD Replacement
Epic - RSD Replacement
Status - PSD Replacement
M Line - Q Replacement

He gave me the option to order direct from Germany so I don't have to wait so that's what I'm opting for as soon as he gets a quote back to me.

I'm actually looking forward to hearing these, the pictures look like a GREAT line up of car audio speakers.

This is good to know. I had MBQ's in my truck and regret leaving them in when I sold it. I would definitely consider purchasing some from the new company.

Hey all,

I was wondering who amongst you guys out there have any MB Quart speakers. I am a huge fan of this manufacturer and have many sets of them for the home as well as the car. So far my collection of MB Quart speakers are as follows:

Vera VS 1F - Fronts for my HT rig
Vera VS 1C - Center
Vera VS 1SW - Subwoofer

QLS230 - Side surrounds
QLS230 - 2nd pair side surround
QLA80 Balcony Digital - Rear surround

QLS530 - Bookshelf 2 way 6 1/2" do-it-all-right bedroom speakers

QLS50 (x12) - Little 2 way 4" satellites that rock the world.

QLT50 - "Terra Algerique" Ceramic 2 way 5 1/4" satellites on iron and glass stands blue in color
QLT60 - Ceramic subwoofer (2 x 6 1/2" isobaric) for Terra satellites

190 - bookshelf 2 way 6 1/2"
220 - bookshelf 2 way 6 1/2"
280 - bookshelf 2 way 8"
350S - Floorstander 2 way 8"

And that's just for home speakers, for the car:

My Car: 93 Taurus SHO

QSD 216 - 2 way 6 1/2" separates front doors
QWD 160 - extra 6 1/2" woofer for the front door (2 woofers per side)

PSD 216 - 2 way 6 1/2" separates (rear fill)

Powered by:
QAA 4250 - 4x250w amp - 250w x 2 for tweeters (front) 250w x 2 rear fill
QAA 2500 - 2x500w amp - 500 w per side for the 4 QWD 160's in the front doors
QAA 1000 - Mono block 1000w for the 2 infinity Kappa Perfect 12"subs

The front doors are actively xover'ed at 2500Hz using the amps internal xover and the subs start at 80Hz and down. The rear fill uses the passive xover that came with the front speakers (QXD 216) instead of the one that it was supplied with (PXD216) because it is better.

Girlfriend's 91 Miata:

QM 160 competition 6 1/2" bass drivers
QM 25 competition 1" tweeter

Powered by Xtant 2200ix (2x200w) for the 6 1/2"s and the 302 (2x150w) for the tweeters actively xover'ed at 2400Hz using the amp's xover modules.

I also have a huge collection of spare drivers and tweeters for both home and car in my collection.

Just wondering who else has MB Quart speakers and what their thoughts are on them. I wanna know!

I have a pair of older co-axials for my car that sounded great and a new set of 6 1/2" component speakers, I can't remember the model # but it's in one of the upper tiers in the line. The say 'made in Germany' but don't sound as good as the older stuff.

Glad to see such fans of MB Quart. I hope that the new company will prove to be as good as the MB Quart of the past.

I wonder how the new company is going to be presented in north america? Who will be carrying it and what kind of price points?

Resurrecting this thread, I picked up these from a friend who got them from an estate sale....Having already owned German Made Canton Karat 60's in the past and having an affinity for Floorstanders I had a pretty good idea that these would be pretty nice and I am not disappointed. I haven't pulled the drivers to identify but will and post back. The Titanium Dome Tweeters are Sweeeeeeeet :thmbsp:

I have a pair of 350s's. They're not my best speakers, but they were greatly improved by changing out the old electrolytics in the crossovers.

I have a pair of Quart Two speakers that are made in the U.S.A. with German components. I don't know when they would be made. They look brand new and handle almost all types of music well.

I have them hooked to my Harman Kardon A50K and they only thing I didn't like listening to was a DSD Remastered CD of "Between the Buttons".

Just found a pair of Quart 280s at goodwill, $35. The cabinets are in real good shape and are very beefy. And they have rubber surrounds, so no foam rot. Have not hooked them up yet, but they do look promising.

I am raising my hand. I have a pair and have no idea what model they are and that they may have been modified, but they are keepers. Really nice sounding set of speakers. I will have to take a few pictures later and put them in later. Maybe someone will be able to help me find out what they are.
There are no speaker jacks on the back, just the two cables comming out of the bottom with banana jack sockets. No stickers etc..

Qls 530

I use these German MBs in my garage to evaluate gear.
They amaze me every time.
Nearly traded and glad I did not.

Ok, I took the speakers out first time since I bought them used about 2 years ago to get the numbers off the speakers. Now That I have I think that they where made from new empty 980 S Boxes with ;

Two 95-6693, 0393 -4 Ohm speakers, and two 95-6684, 3-9 3-6 Ohm tweeters per box. I have found the tweeters(6684's) but not the drivers(6693's) The crossover is covered up pretty good And I couldn't see anything but I don't want to screw around with a working system. the banana jacks go staight to the crossover. And they don't have glass tops.

Even if they where self made speakers the 40$ was well worth it to me.

Now I'm more lost than ever :scratch2:

Any Ideas??

I only own some MCD25M tweeters. ( 95-7107) I acquired these when I needed to replace a bad tweeter in one of my Ohm Walsh 5 speakers. Still have a few new in box.... for future projects or replacements.....
