Hi ,
Still in search for a Mc power amp to drive my jbl L112 speakers through my MA 6200 that i currently use.
i need some opinions for the Mc 150 that is available near to my hometown about 2000$. i saw some other threads here but opinions are limited and vary.
So how this amp will sound in comparison with other vintage mcintosh models like 7150,2155,7200 2205 which i m currently looking? does it have a more modern sound ?
thank you!

Yes already watched this thread!
However again, there are some good reviews and others that state that it is not so popular among Mcintosh offerings ,less musical , different midrange etc etc...
So is it in the same league as 7150, 2155 or even 2205 ? Anyone who has tried and compared these models is welcome to contribute

I have an MC150 paired with a C42 preamp. The MC150 is a very under the radar amp, but I am very happy with it. It's dead quiet, reliable, runs cool and sounds excellent with my Tekton Double Impact speakers. I've never heard any other Mc amps with these speakers so really can't comment on how it compares to other Mc amps. But I have absolutely no desire to update to a different amp anytime soon.

How you would describe its sound? Slightly on the warm side maybe? I think i want a minimum warmth as found in the 2xxx seriers to tame down the jbls a little

I wouldn't really describe it as warm, but it does not sound bright either. Just neutral and transparent but musical, not dry or sterile sounding. This amp really just sounds like whatever preamp you put in front of it. I initially had a VTA SP12 tube preamp going into it but the solid state c42 is better in every way. Lower noise floor, bigger soundstage, smoother overall sound, not to mention more convenient with the remote.
