MC 2100 output failure question

Follow-up: Newark delivered in two days...nice service on a part my first choices wouldn't have for months. Made one last check of the emitter resistors and installed the new outputs. Powered up fine on the dim bulb with driver cards out everything looked normal. Slide the drivers in after cleaning the contacts and all is good. Ran it into my 4 ohm bench speakers for a couple of hours and runs nice and cool. DC was 17/9 mV. :banana:

First impressions of this amp are very nice. I have it going direct from my Sony 707 ESD into my big Snell's. Seems like a very strong 105 wpc. Next week it gets recapped.

Forgot to mention I got it yesterday, thank you. Had I tested the outputs more thoroughly I would have caught the other bad one first time. I have no problem making the donation. That Motorola 32-070 and the 10 others will end up in something. All good. :thmbsp:
 
FWIW the AudioXpress article from years ago noted the 2100 relied on anodized heatsinks to isolate the collector from the 'sinks. One scratch or some wayward oxidation and you've got trouble.

Grease and mica are your friends. :)

BTW Nice Fluke meter. Super reliable and easy to fix when things do go sideways.
