Mc 2200 Problem

I thought I'd post this problem I had recently before I take the amp to a local McIntosh service center to get the bad news. Whenever in the past I have turned on the amp the red limit lights (power guard) come on momentarily then the green normal lights come on and the amps ready to go, which I believe is normal. Today when I turned on the amp the right red limit light came on and stayed on then I heard a fairly loud scratchy/pop sound from the right speaker. There was also an electric burnt smell. I immmediately turned off the amp and haven't touched it since (speakers where not damaged). The power guard switch in the back of the amp was in NORMAL. I use the MC2200 to power two Klipsch Cornwall speakers for the home theater. I use a B & K Ref 50 for the processor. Thanks in advance for any information, maybe it might ease the pain when I talk to the tech this week. Thanks John

Yes you have lost a channel, it time for it to go to the shop, PG lamp and smell are a sure sign of an unhappy amp.
