MC 250 serial number help

I recently acquired an MC250. Serial number is 10L38. Can anyone help me figure out the approximate date of manufacture?

WOW! Hey Jeff, welcome.

You will be happy and pleasantly surprised that you probably have the 38th Mc250 made - in March of 1967. It is probably the earliest serial number that I have ever seen.

It is a sweet amp and a great way to get into Mc amps. You won't need another amp for awhile - if ever, depending on your listening habits. You just need a nice Mc pre now, if you already don't have it.

Thanks! I figured it was old, but not a first year model. No plans on the pre quite yet, but I will be hooking it up to a nice pair of 1969 Heresy speakers. I'll post pics when it is all set up

Four months later, and the MC250 is up and running. Let me tell you, this thing was a mess. Conductive bakelite, reverse-wired transistors, you name it. After some diligent and impressive sleuthing, Bryan at Audiomart Service here in Kansas City did a chassis-off rebuild of most everything. He does great work and is highly recommended.

The MC250 will be paired with my MX110, AR XA, and Heresy setup this weekend. In the meantime I acquired some minty 1977 Klipschorns which will be powered by my MC30 amps and C33, which will mean my 1977 LaScalas will soon meet up with the MC250.
