MC pre-amp question

Hi. I am thinking of getting a TT that comes with a MC cart. I have a Pioneer SX-1010 which has phono input but for MM not MC.

My question. If I get a pre-amp. Lets say a Cambridge Audio 651P. Does the output from the pre-amp go into the phono stage input of the pioneer? Or does it have to go in the AUX input, because it has been amplified by the preamp?

It goes into the AUX or any other free input.Not phono

based on the one you have mentioned...they got it right

but there are also step up transformers that just boost the LOMC to regular phono level

and there are moving coil phono preamplifiers that will boost the level to the phono level.

so whatever you get, unless it tells you or you know, it could be either a phono preamp to line level or a moving coil phono preamp/step up to phono input level.

Just ask if you need to.

What about a high output moving coil cartridge that goes into the regular phono input? Just another possibility.
