MC152 trigger from Marantz processor

I am planning to purchase an MC152 in the near future to replace a couple of Rotel amps (running in bridged mono) connected to my Marantz SR7012 AVR. I understand McIntosh uses a stereo trigger cable to control both the amp power and meter lights separately in the MC152. According to Marantz, only a mono trigger cable should be used.

I would like to use the trigger to turn on both the amp and meter lights, is this possible? If not, how about just turning on the amp without the lights?

This is my living room (TV) system, so it needs to be automated as much as possible. My Rotel's don't have a trigger input so I just leave them on 24/7, but I would prefer to switch off the McIntosh when not used.

I have an NR1711 and I use a stereo cable to trigger the passthrough mode on my C2700. It works perfectly. I have also directly triggered my MC302 with a stereo cable from my NR1711. If you use a stereo cable the amps and meters will turn on if you use a mono cable the amps will still turn on but the meter lights wont. I have also used several other Marantz receivers and pre-pros and they all work just fine with stereo cables.
