MC240 vs MC275 MK VI

Hello MCIntosh enthusiasts,

I have a question for you. I have an Mc240 in near mint condition, later model. And I’m thinking about buying an Mc275 MKVI. However, I would need to sell the Mc240. Is this a wise move? In the long run what is the best bang for my buck? I love the idea of having an amp that I know isn’t going to die on me. Also, the extra 35 watts would probably suit my AR3a’s better.
Thoughts?

Acoustically, the MC275 would only provide ~ 3 dB extra headroom over the MC240 which is not very significant. Also the impedances between the preamplifier and MkVI should be checked for compatibility- especially if the preamp is an MX110.

Thirdly, the MC240 will increase in value over time while a new MkVI will depreciate once it becomes used.

Personally I'd just stay with the MC240 since performance differential will be marginal at best.

Thanks for the feedback. It’s kinda what I figured but I wanted to ask the community.
