I'm interested in purchasing a new MC275. This is my first venture into tube amp and I'm wondering is the MC275 is the "best bang for the buck." I will be driving Klipsch Cornwall III's.
Not to preach sacrilege in this forum, but in general, I personally don't put Mc gear and "bang for the buck" in the same sentence. 15-20 WPC will be more than enough to drive your CW III's to ear bleeding levels. It's more a question of what philosophy you want to follow.
You can buy an old console for $20 with a 15 WPC tube amp in it, and restore it and get wonderful sound for maybe $50 total outlay. That's how I define bang for the buck.
OTOH, you can buy the Mc amp of your dreams, and know exactly what you're getting, and know that it will retain it's value, (assuming you don't overpay of course) and that you can still have "factory" service and support, and have a fabulous sounding piece of gear to boot.
However, most MC-275's are going to cost you a little bit more than an old console.....
For your first foray into tube amps, Try a used mc 275 if for any reason you are not a tube guy sell it for what you bought it for! Now that is bang for the buck!

Thank you for the input! Are there anything issues to look for in "used 275's (problems)?" Also, any version to avoid buying? It seems the earlier versions had rust?...no?
By the "sound" do you mean "the McIntosh sound" we hear about from time to time? Some say the MC275 defines the tube McIntosh sound. Sorry to hijack the thread, but there is some controversy there... not started by me!
Back on topic: the MC30s or MC240 are great suggestions but they are going to be 40-50 years old. These days it probably will not be too hard to find an affordable MC240. You won't go wrong with the MC275 but for a new one it will cost you twice what a 240 will.
