Hi my fellow MAC brothers & sisters and Happy Holidays !!
I was just thinking that I would like to get spares just in case God Forbid anything should happen and before McIntosh might not have anymore.
Also...does anyone know if these glass panels have any of that tape behind some of the nomenclature and if McIntosh supplies that on the spares?
Also....does anyone else keep glass panel spares?
Thanks and enjoy your McIntosh !!

The glass panels are very fragile and take up a lot of room when properly boxed for storage. This is why the service department orders them as needed from production. You can order and store if you want. I don't think McIntosh is going anywhere soon. The corporate structure is well, rather substantial. The old company will probably outlive most of us.

thanks,
Ron-C

Yes, I keep spares. I'm sure that will shock alot of us here.

Masterlu, I am not kidding, I read the post and said to myself, I bet Ivan has a few on hand, and I kept coming back to look for your post.

You are the man!

I have got to get a life.

Thanks Ron.....I was just thinking that there might come a time when you might stop making glass for those models altogether.

Masterlu....how big are those glass boxes that they come in and how much space do they take up. My factory boxes for my MC352/C42/MR85 took up all the room in the livingroom closet under the staircase

Thanks

I usually buy half a dozen or so at once. They are of course all wrapped individually & then bubble wrapped in a much larger box. As always Mac's packing is 2nd to none.

Once again, it is great to have them ready on hand. :thmbsp:

I would have thought you would have those spares with the electronics and the boxes behind them!
:D

I have a spare MC2000 glass in storage. I prefer to have it now than to wait for McIntosh to make me one when I need it. That may take months.

Considering Mcintosh still makes glass (when quantity warrants) for about anything they've made, the only advantage to buying a spare is to have it on hand. They range for $125 to $180 and I've gotten them 3 days after I ordered one and 8 months after I've ordered one, both for 70's era equipment. What tapes & films are attached seems completely random. Some have everything, some have none both from my experience and from others that have posted. The bubbling/peeling issue certainly seems to have been solved, though!
