MC402 humming.

Take it back to where you bought it. Warranty. Stop messing with Cheater plugs and shorted wire before you cause damage beyond the warranty.

My MC2002 has the same noise ... but it´s 25 years old. I´d take the MC402 quickly to were you bought it to have it repaired in warranty.
Enrique.

I would NEVER try cheater plugs or shorted cables when i´m still under warranty. Wouldn´t do that after warranty expired niether.

Thanks

I've just put my ear to the amp Mc402 no hum at all, dead silent.I don't have dedicated line, no power conditioner either.

There is no danger shorting the inputs to an amp. None. It's a good test.

Heck, an MC-402 is heavy enough that you could damage it just trying to move it. It sounds like he is unsure if there is even a problem.

The chance of a brand new MC-402 having an issue like hum is pretty slim.

Testing it to be sure before attemptring to move it is a good idea. I still bet there is a system ground loop or poor connector and nothing is wrong with the amp.

Well, maybe there is no problem. I don´t know, but what i do know is that i can hear the amp from listening position. As i wrote earlier i had the MC252 for audition before i bought this and that was, like harry33 describes his 402 "dead silent". That was the case with my previous amp too, dead silent.

I have an mc402, and it is dead quiet. There must be an issue with your unit. As much as it is pain, I would take it back. For the kind of money you paid, the unit should be perfect.

Very True!

OP - Did you have the dealers installers install it? How did you get it home? If it was them I would have them come back out.
