MC75 Reiussed, Did I Made the Right Chioce?

Given a choice, MC75 twins would be my tube choice as long as power was adequate. For more power or continuous duty, something solid state.

I missed the UPS yesterday. I should have taken a leave and waited for them at home, can't count on wife for this kind things, you know. I told her I have an important delivery, she did not care apparently.
 
Man those things are SEXY. Not to take anything away from the Carys, but sitting beside the MC75 they look like a chassis with parts randomly mounted to it with no ryhme or reason whereas the McIntosh layout is simply perfection.

I've never heard 75s. I bet they sound SWEET!
 
Scratched my head this morning tried to put the MC75 into my system, why the hell they put power socket on the opposite side! I know there is sonic benefit to separate the power and audio signal, but man this is an awkward setup! And all my power cables and interconnects are not long enough now......
 
I place them in my rack (MC40's) with the power cord in the back and all the connections out the front. They make nice little 90 degree adapters for the signal cables that helps with the interconnect routing. Keeps from having big loops sticking out with the interconnects. You can find them on ebay for a few bucks each. For the speaker cables I use crimp on ring or spade lugs. They do make adapters for banana plugs but they wind up sticking out so far that it makes me nervous. One small bump and it will destroy the screw terminal strip. Besides, a good crimped lug will make a better connection every time.

Very Nice!! The power connector is like that on the MC275 and 75's. Can you turn the 2 amps sideways instead of front and back. Also they sell 90 degree connectors for the electrical cable too, so that doesn't have a big loop in it if you put them side by side.
 
You should've gotten the gold IMHO. The MC-75 60th is extremely sexy. Whoever bought them should be proud. It's desired, rare, and luxurious.

Lioh, the older amps don't have 5 way binding post, they use the old fashioned terminal strips. Stranded wire doesn't work well in them so I crimp lugs on the wire. Makes for a very secure, low resistance connection. You may lose some bling but you make up for it in reliability and performance. Often times "old school" is good.

I think Jim Mcshane recommends the reissue gold lion kt88s. I would buy matched set from him. He vets them better than most (under more real world conditions)
I suspect tube rolling will yield minimal improvement. (If you want to set originals aside for posterity you have some options)
