McIntosh AE-2 with no markings or serial number

I have a McIntosh AE2 that has no markings or serial number on the back panel. The front panel refers to Silver Spring MD. I don't think it is an AE-2A. But I've been unable to find another example that has an identical back panel to this one.

I'm looking for insight on whether this may be an early production unit, or? And what has been changed on it over the years? It was recently powered up and the power light came on. That is the extent of testing done. I'm reluctant to do even that to it.

The historic information in McIntosh Compendium shows only one version.

The Berner's site includes a different scan of the AE-2 owner's manual and two brochures in pdf one for AE-2 and one for AE-2A. Scroll down to the Miscellaneous products to download these docs.

Your unit shows the older Silver Springs, MD address.
The brochure for the AE-2 shows the Silver Springs, MD address and the block diagram is dated 01/26/50.
The brochure for the AE-2A shows the earlier 320 Water St, Binghamton address and the block diagram is not dated.
Both versions of the owners manual I found show the new 2 Chambers St, Binghamton address and have a complete schematic.

Anyway, if you study these documents, you might find your answer.
