Hey guys I'm new here on audiokarma and this is my first thread so here it goes.

In my searchings on the Internet for a good new cd player for my suv I came across something of a gem possibly and thought you all might know something about these. It is a McIntosh car cd player/cassette player do you all know much about these?

You can find this on ebay if you search mcintosh car audio as I don't want to post a bunch of links.

Chances are came out a infinitu or subaru. If you can match it up to the amp would be fine. Personally I would score a mcintosh amp and hook it to a newer usb compatible head unit. Clarion built some MCintosh amps same era I have in my boat. They are clean cranking machines. Chances are head unit is clarion you have found. Not bad if cheap nut new head units better. The Mcintosh amp with powerguard is what you want or the Clarion clone.
 
The single DIN McIntosh head units, as well as the CD changer, were all built by Clarion. McIntosh did have an incredibly expensive outboard D/A and I'm not sure I ever ascertained it's origin. I heard several car systems with Mc car amplifiers over the years but none that did anything for me but I don't think that had anything to do with the product. [Car audio is far more a personal preference hobby (sound wise) than home audio.] The product itself was gorgeous and looked to be bullet proof, especially the MCC602TM power amplifier. I was working for Rockford Fosgate during much of that time so the idea of building a system in my own car with McIntosh gear was not going to happen. When we (RF) finally discontinued head units, the Mc head units were long in the tooth and didn't have bluetooth or iPod capability . . .

That's awsome you worked for rockford fosgate. I'm a long time fan of their stuff. In fate a have two pairs of their power series 5x7s in my explorer right now. Thanks for the info on the mcintosh head units. I've always been partial to pioneer head units when it came to car audio but my friend is a McIntosh enthusiast and so it baffled me when I came across a head unit.
