McIntosh column pot connector to balance pot broken connection

c_dk is right, you don’t want or need to find the ‘best capacitor’ for this position. What I should have said is any 0.22uf film cap from a reputable brand/supplier.

The price difference between the cheapest 0.22uf film cap in the world, and one from a good brand (like Panasonic, Nichicon, Vishay, etc...) would be less than $2 at best. I know it quickly gets out of hand after that, all they way up into the thousands ...which is ridiculous.

Thanks! I'll look forward to it. In the mean time, my local electronics store ( Orvacs) has the film capacitors too. The values are .22 and 650 volt, which the tech says is okay. You can go higher in voltage but never under.. Do you concur with that?

Yes that is correct!

the voltage number is just a 'max voltage rating'
I suggest grabbing those and tossing them in there ...it could be up and running by tomorrow!

I'm gonna bet on them having orange drops or the yellow IC axials, both good caps :thumbsup:

EDIT: Make sure the capacitors you get have enough lead/leg length. Some box style film caps come with very short leads. You're going to need a solid 20mm (3/4" for you Yanks) or more to get them to fit nicely.
