McIntosh History Book

Vintage Pete

Mixing classic & current
Reading the thread on Ivan's plaque reminded me again of a very, very nice gesture that was done for me by the staff of my local MAC dealer while at the 2007 CES earlier this year. While at a signing event for the new McIntosh History book, they remembered me and my enthusiasm for McIntosh and conveyed that to Mr. Randall, Mr. Corderman and Mr. Kessler and asked if they would sign a copy for me. I was floored by the gesture and the book is one of my most cherished possessions. I don't know how many of the people are members here or read the forum here but I'd like to take the opportunity to thank Charlie, Sid and Ken for signing the book for me and perhaps most of all, my friends at Sounds Terrific. It came as a total surprise to me and I am most grateful. For those of you who haven't seen the book, it is an outstanding quality book with many fabulous pictures, and a very well written history of the company that I truly believe is "The best". Attached is a photo of the signed page of my book.

Great book, great people

Carl,

Yes, it is a great book, signed or not. I'll be going to the Binghamton area later this year for my 30th high school reunion in nearby Vestal. I plan to tour the plant again, and who knows maybe I'll get to thank Charlie in person. (I toured the plant in 2003 and again in 2004).

Very cool.

Sometimes it is the small gestures that make the big difference.

If you get to meet Charlie I know you will like him. I met him at CEDIA a few years ago. He is very down to earth and and easy to talk to.

I have bought 50% of my McIntosh from them. Great guys!
And 50% of the time, great prices...

Did you get vintage equipment through them?
If so, I did not even notice any durring my many visits.

Great guys indeed!

Yes, they are great guys, all of them. Actually most of my Vintage Mac came from either eBay or Steve Brakke's now-closed store, Cooper for Stereo. Another great guy! The only MAC gear I've bought at Sounds Teriffic has been new.

And Yes, Irwin and the gang at S.T. have also made me some great deals in the past. In fact, I stopped in there yesterday and had some pretty thought-provoking discussions with them that may get me in "trouble"!

They do sell used/vintage stuff, but they've always kept it in separate rooms from the new gear.
