mcintosh ma5100 into a fisher 400

speapkers are klipsch hearsey. so your saying it would be best reversed? sound improvement i heard was better highs and more bass. punchier. defined. when i ran each one alone the sound seemed kinda flat i guess. more so with the fisher. the mac seemed to lack crisp highs then when i did this to me sounded right. good highs nice bass. maybee the phono in on fisher wasnt pushing my turntable? the fm always sounded great the phono did not. now it sounds like the fm

i saw another thread in here about someone running a pre amp to his fisher 400 tube receiver and had great results no one said it wasnt right etc. his preamp wasnt a mac. but stil same thing.

The MA5100 does not have a preout or amp in on any I can remember or see on my schematic.

yeah...looks like he's using the tape out from mcintosh.

speapkers are klipsch hearsey.

klipsch should be plenty efficient.

sounds like it'll be best you restore these properly and re-evaluate the sound.

turntable is a reaga 2. with upgraded cartridge. th receiver is a fisher 400 tube

What is the upgraded cartridge?

Frankly, if you are happy doing what you're doing then keep doing it.

Have you done any recent uppdates to these pieces? They might just be "tired" and in need of some cap updates and new tubes.
