McIntosh MAC6700

This is for anyone out there with a MAC6700, I’m curious about the dimensions. Most reliable sources state that it’s roughly 17 1/2” W x 7 5/8” H x 22” D. However the owners manual PDF from the McIntosh website says it’s the same height and width but only 18 3/4” deep (including the binding posts). I’ve been planning on picking one up, but my current audio furniture wouldn’t be deep enough to comfortably fit a 22” deep receiver. 18 3/4” would be more do-able. Can some kind soul put a tape measure on it and let me know what the actual depth is? Thanks in advance.

Mine measures about 18" deep. I have it in a standard VTI rack. That doesn't include space for connectors and such though.

Yea, I did NOT measure from knob to banana jack. Just the chassis. I have four inches to the wall behind it, and some cables are touching the plaster.

I love mine, just wish I could get the USB to function.
Being a D150 owner, I've learned through trial and error that the USB simply will not shake hands with the PC if Windows isn't absolutely up to date. As my office machine won't take Win10 after repeated upgrade efforts, I have no USB interface for 6mos now.

Really, I quite dislike the position that Microsoft has put myself and others like me in ...

Most of the time window update will break certain function.
McIntosh does not have the budget to test every window update nor the knowledge (Mc is not a software company) forewarn the End User of certain update.
Use a dedicated PC and once it works don't update until you are sure.

In my line of work, we are selling/integrating proprietary software and hardware. We warn customers in advance not to download any window update from the internet. UPDATE AT YOUR OWN RISK.
We test all window updates in house then whitelisting before publish. And guess what, it is a paid service (not free).

I'm using a Mac. Simply put, the USB is dead. Plug in a computer (several different Macs and even a Win 10 with the driver) and it's as if you did nothing. The computer does not recognize anything, not even a blip. The optical and coaxial are fine as everything else about this unit. I will not ship it off for "repair' because I love it so much.

It may sound like I'm complaining but actually I'm bragging. I love the gear so much I'm not parting with it even for a little while!

Oh and my C2500's USB acts the very same way. Still not complaining. Actually the Oppo Sonica I have is pretty sweet!!

The dimension of the MAC6700 that blew my mind was the weight! This unit is my first MAC and no doubt will be my one and only at 59 years old. Retirement is getting close on the horizon at 10 years or less and that is my focus. I am not a rich man but do enjoy staying within my budget with the best I can afford. This receiver is “it” for me. McIntosh entry level is more than enough for me as I am one happy camper. She is still Cherry. Not one scratch nor blemish, as new and staying that way!

Good for you!!

MAC6700 -- good choice! Did you get the TM2 or TM3 tuner module?
