McIntosh MC-2125 Overheating

I have been listening to an MC-2125 attached to an MX-113 for a few months and recently noticed that the right side back (as you are facing the front of the unit) overheats after playing 20 minutes. It gets quite hot to the touch. The center and left side feel normal. Is this a "typical" thing for this amp? I have stacked Advents hooked-up in parallel and using the 4 ohm connection. Will this go away if I connect the Advents in series? Is this a problem that could disable the 2125 and possibly cost a lot of $$$ to repair? Your ideas and insights are most welcome. Thanks in advance.

Try swapping speakers, and hooking up left to right and right to left to see if the problem stays the same, or if the other channel heats up.

Also run just one set of speakers and try the 8 ohm tap. What you may find is either a short in the speaker cables is causing the problem, or the load of the speakers is too much (which I doubt.....it's a McIntosh!)

Worst case is that you need to have the unit looked at, which would be good preventative maintenance either way. I use Audio Classics for all fo my gear, and they have always been outstanding!

I have tried the suggestions mentioned; but, it still overheats, as before. I believe that it needs an experienced McIntosh tech to look it over and bring it to factory specs. Thanks to everyone who responded!

MC2125 had solder problems on the driver board, possible blown current sense transistors, possible bad output transistor, sounds like time to get it to the shop, will need a fully metered variac to set the bias. Hope you have the original box to ship it, otherwise you may want to remove the front panel and keep the glass at home.
