Mcintosh MC 30 Repair

What do you all think of this type of power transformer replacement for a MC 30?

If you can't find a stock transformer, what is a good choice for a replacement....
It seems like the tubes would work harder or hotter depending on the choice.

MC30 power rewind is $175.00.

TRS does a nice job, has done three MX110 transformers for me, among others, they work will and run cooler than original.

Ouch! Someone bought a carcass for that much? Far better with the rewind. Even if considering a replacement transformer for _any_ amp, I'd generally steer clear of that great virtual auction site.

I guess the power transformer problem is a common one. I have one that I bought from a forum member with the same replaced transformer problem...but it was only $120. I did get it working well though.

I love the MC30... they are a great amp. I bought a large group of them off craislist a few weeks back. I have 5 working and 7 that I haven't tested, and need to be gone through when I get the time.
