Have a chance to buy a clean one and have no idea of what it's worth in the market.

Trying it out and works well and sounds good in my system. Any thoughts of what I should pay for it? Doesn't seem to be many for sale, and those that I do see folks are asking $3k which seems excessive. I was thinking $1500 tops but I have no idea.

No case but otherwise it’s very clean.

I might also have the opportunity to buy a 2205 but that’s older and hasn’t been used for 3 years so I’m more skeptical. Ultimately this would be used as a backup to my MC2300 which is currently in the shop. Also perhaps occasionally with the 2300 when using 4 speakers.

To my ears, the 2200/2205 sounded less harsh than the 2300; the 2205 was a 500 HP Maserati sedan, while the 2300 was a 500 HP tow truck.

I adore my 2300 and will never rid myself of it.

That said I'd love the opportunity to hear the 2205. The only other Mac amp that I've heard is the 2105 that I owned, and also adored, but recently sold as part of securing funds for my C11. Of course, shortly after selling it the 2300, for which it was my only backup, goes south. Timing is everything.

And I'm really enjoying the 2002. Have read some positive, some negative about it but so far it has not disappointed. Wouldn't mind owning it as 2nd amp but I prefer not to put primary amp dollars into it.

I own both the 2002 and the 2205 they are both outstanding but the 2205 holds a slight edge over the 2002. I would say that $1500 would be a reasonable price for the 2002.
