McIntosh ML-2C Speakers

Angular banjos sound good
I don't know much of anything about McIntosh speakers, so I'm really clueless about this find.

A pair of McIntosh ML-2C(s). The surrounds were replaced by a McIntosh dealer in town a few years ago. The cabinets are very clean... probably a 9/10.

They are big, beautiful, heavy monsters. He is including the equalizer, MQ-102 I think.

What's a good price? Keep in mind, I will have to rent a crane to move them!

Pros: Insane bass response. Like, flat to 20Hz and capable of knocking you on your ass. Cool furniture styling if you go for that. McIntosh cachet.

Cons: Muddy mids/highs, bad stereo imaging, knee-high listening sweet spot, needs a nuclear-powered amplifier, big and clunky, unobtainium midrange drivers.

I think my asking price was down to $300 by the time I traded mine. After six months on the market. If you find the right person who has a major hardon for a pair of these they're worth some real money, but otherwise it's an awkward speaker to live with. The MQ-102 is also the "little" EQ and isn't worth a ton on its own.

Replaced with Polk 1.2TLs and I miss nothing other than the extreme bottom end.
