McIntosh MT-2 turntable?

Does anyone that may own one have any thoughts on this table? I recently purchased my first McIntosh Integrated Amp and trying to get real feedback on the MT-2. It’s priced right for me and looks quite beautiful.

All I know is the MT-5 has acoustic feed back issues. Even thought the MT2 unit comes with a HO MC cartridge I would want one with a more advanced stylus profile.

How bout VPI Scout Prime with A Dynavector 20 X2 for about $3500 or less new at Audio Classics. . How about a new Direct Dive Technics SL 1200G with a better cartridge? maybe you could find a pre-owed VPI Aries ii or iii. Maybe a used Model 10 SME? There are two VPI Primes over at Audio karma for about $3000.00. One with cartridge one with out. One has the sexy looking wood and metal laminated chassis.

But if you are set on a MT-2 Call Steve at Audio Classics he may have a demonstrator or a pre-owned one he would let you have. The best. price is always if you walk in the door and you live out of state.

I feel the same was as you DrStache - I want the looks of the McIntosh turntable. From a price standpoint it is a hard pill to swallow for me. If that is not an issue, you should get what you want. I was at Axpona in 2019, and a lot of the high end vendors were running McIntosh turntables. Every single one sounded great too, including the best system I have ever heard which, after looking back at my picture, I think was running an MT2 table. The system was MT2, C2600, 2xMC611, playing into B&W 800D3 speakers (plus more money in cables and power regulation than my whole system cost of course). It was set up in one of those main floor hotel meeting rooms, but when it played, the whole system disappeared and completely filled the room with sound. It was amazing.

I will probably get corrected on this, but I think that the McIntosh tables are made by Clearaudio (I know for sure they make the main bearings) - so if it is just the sound you are looking for, maybe you can save a few bucks there and get the same bearings at least.

I went ahead and ordered an MT-2 from Audio Classic. It is supposed to be here Tuesday. I’ve had excellent service with those guys so just went ahead and got what I wanted. I’ll post results when I have it in my hands.

DSN_1558.jpeg I thought at one time I wanted a MT-10. But I knew I would want a digital read out in addition or in place of the speed-ometer VU meter. And also I wanted the speed adjustments on the front where you don't have to pull the table out and place it some where else each time I needed to reset the speed. So no MT-10. Plus I think for that price it should have the option of a linear arm. I hope you are happy with the MT-2. Steve talked me into a Levinson inspired by VPI and I am very happy. I much prefer a gimbaled arm compared to VPI uni-pivot. I know , no digital readout and the speed controls are just as hard to access. The price was right, too.

Very nice setup you have!

Thats the Home theatre system, here's the stereo part plus the amps The 2505 powers the electro static headphones. The MPi -4 monitors the pre amps line outputs and the woofer amps output. I am sorry you can't see one of the EQ's, crossovers, and electro statics power supplies. DSN_9939.jpeg. Really need to take some new pictures. But I have some more detail work to do.

Does the MT-2 use a wall wart power supply? If so, do you know the max current draw (should be listed on the wall wart/power supply) and the type of plug (2.1mm or 2.5mm) it uses to attach to the turntable? That info would be very helpful to me. Thanks!!
