Looks like some nice stuff. Might be in another universe price-wise as far as I'm concerned. Is that tuner really worth a grand?
 
Bit over priced to me. Long as the buyer is happy thats all that matters.
 
People and AK'ers -At the last minute I turned down the deal.
I have a Pioneer 1250 with 160 watts per channel and have AM.
The Mac had just an FM tuner and was 105 watts per channel--for the price I thought I would be stepping down but spending $2450.00.
Besides ------ECHOWARS will be doing a complete full restoration on my Pioneer 1250 this spring and I would rather save my money and keep what I have.
The person selling the Mac --told me to let you all know it is still up for grabs.

These look pretty good. All the wood and if no or few bubbles, then a fair price, considering local pickup. Cases do not seem to be the slant legs but still good for $150-200 each. Try shipping a 2105. 65lbs and you need to pack like the family crystal because those front panels will surely crack if not properly packed. My 2105 puts out 165 watts per channel rms and has BALLS. I use it in my main system when the Mc gear is hooked up. With the autoformers, it presents a consistent power output across the bandwidth. When your speaker hits 16 ohms, the Pioneer will only supply about 80 watts. This constant power output is one of the reasons why Mc amps have a serious long term consistent following for music listeners. The 71 is simply considered 1 of the best tuners out there. The preamp is under most Mc owners' radar but is is now starting to gain a following and I think prices on these will start to parellel the C28 but slightly lower.

I seldom commment about a decision but, I'd suggest you rethink.
 
At those prices you can do much better,all the gear is good stuff but none of it is really very special & is a dime a dozen.

His prices are at the hi end of the spectrum & the price for the tuner is nuts,you can score an MR 78 for the same price.
 
Guess value depends on one's financial perspective. As for the tuner, I'd drop the dime on a 71 before dropping the same dime on a 78. The 78 is a great dx'er but for sound the 71 beats it by a big margin. When I was looking at tuners I listened extensively to both and opted for the 77. As a dealer, of course I got a decent discount so price was not an issue. If I made a limiting decision it was going with the MC250 as the 2100/2105 had an output voltage in excess of the safe voltage for my speakers. Should have gone with the 2505 though at the time were the amp resided the meters were visually useless or the 2105 and just made sure I did not get near max power. Of course, I made up for it and after listening to new Mc amps a few years ago grabbed a rebuilt mint 2105 instead based solely on sound.

I agree no bargain when compared to online prices but not off the mark for Audio Classic pricing and when you factor in the cabinets and savings on shipping, the price is well within a good deal range.

Thats exactly what i meant,i also meant that for the cash there is alot more Mcintosh gear from a more morern era that will out perform that set up.

About 20 % of the value in that set up is based on walnut cabinets,which will do nothing for sound or performance
