Mcintosh Speakers

Hello all,
I did searches and don't see much regarding Mcintosh speakers.

I have a set of MT-150-1 tweeters that were in my Epicure M100 speakers.

I know nothing about these, they sound terrific.

Can anyone tell me which speakers these tweeters belong to?

That's because so few own Mc spkrs.

They belong to either ML or Early XR 3 to XR12. Roger Russell's site has all the P/Ns of drivers in his designed speakers. That is a mid dome tweeter. Can reproduce great realistic airy musical instruments like piano and flute if crossed over at the right points with the peerles tweeters.

Those were made by United Audio, the original dome patent holder, long before Phillips ignored their patent. I believe they were based New Jersey and would become parent company of Phase Tech. McIntosh ML10s used a similar mid dome as well as did Fisher. I am sure there were others.

RR told me years ago they were offered to McIntosh and others priced on a bell curve. He stated they paid the highest price for them based on their testing and the tightest parameters.

Years later Mac offered a round plate adapter with a rectangular hole in it so a ML1 dome would fit as a ML10 replacement. Then in the late 70s, early 80s Mac started building their own domes in house for the XRs and then ML replacements.

When I was in college I worked at our local PlayBack store for a while......sold a gazzilon EPI100s. Also had to replace lots of dome tweeters. The deal was if you took a break from the sales floor you replaced a tweeter while you were in the back room.

I see now they are the ML 10S midrange.

How they ended up in the M100's I don't know but I really like these domes a lot.
