McIntosh Tuner Repair and Upgrades Service Centers?

As noted in the manual a certain amount of cleanliness is important in certain circuit locations.

Too many of these ended up installed in oceanside beach houses were the high humidity and salt air caused many challenges. I have had many snow birds bring them north after a winter south with issues.

A true restoration and alighnment will need 6-8 tech hours to do correctly, 10 if certain known issues crop up.

Not a inexpensive restoration.

Yes, this is why after some thinking, I will handle the caps portion of this and let the Tech concentrate on the Alignment /repair "IF" needed. I will not have the preset/scan function repaired since i don't use those functions anyways, unless they some how affect the other functions that are necessary for the MR80 to work properly. It would be nice to have the scan/presets functions work but not a priority.

Well since I will be handling the caps upgrade/s, I ordered my new caps and resistors for the MR80 and got the ones I wanted to put in to give the best possible sound. I order Elna Cerafines, Silmic II, and the New Audio Note Standard series caps for power supplies and audio sections. I have experience with the Elnas but this will be my First time using the Audio Note caps. The Audio Note are supposed to be right there or better than the Black Gates. Actually it wasn't that much for all these caps as I got extra than what I needed. I also got some Takman resistors for all the resistors in the signal path from the output of the Multiplex all the way to the output connectors and headphone amp. Once satisfied with the sound, I will THEN send it off to have the alignment done to it. I still may go farther with upgrades since this around 35 year old tuner, we'll see.

I will have my local Tech work on aligning tuner, It was my misunderstand that he never had worked on one, but actually he has work on some. So my apologies.

Thanks Everyone for your help, advice, and info.
