mcintosh vs b&K

Currently I'm using B&k 507 receiver to power my sonus faber cremona. I am planing to upgrade to MC205 and continue to use the b&k 507 as pre-amp in the mean time. eventually, my plan is to get rid of the 507.

None of my local dealers has teh mc205 in stock for me to do audition. even they do, i wouldn't able to do a a &B test with my b&K. I am just wondering how much i am gonna gain with the new amp. is it worth to spend the additonal several grand on the new mcintosh. If the improvement is subtle, i may just keep the b&k.... iknow, some of you may think they are in different league, but b&K is not bad to all to me....

commetns adn suggestions are always welcome. thank you!!

I hope someone with experince on these two brand coudl shed me some lights.

I have a B&K HT consisting of the Reference 30 and Reference 7250 5 channel amp. They are older and don't support all the new surround formats but they sound great and do what I need. I would say it depends on what you currently use your 507 for. If you have a separate 2 channel system and don't use the 507 for critical listening I would say stick with what you have.

i had the Ref 30, then upgraded briefly to the ref 50 and at the time had the 4430 amp and 2 2220 amps for a 7.1 surround.. over all I was really impressed with the system, and it was my first separates system.. before that i had a denon avr 3200.

I have switched to krell (bought it all used) and could not be happier.. without even using a sub I have an amazing amount of bass coming from my main speakers.

thats just one very noticable aspect .. I'd say go for it.. and ask the store if you can do an inhome audition before you commit.
