Mcintosh XR-7 Value

Hi everyone. There are a pair of these on e-bay for sale now for $1,700 dollars. They are a whopping 40 miles from my house. Seller claims he will personally deliver these to your door for a fee anywhere in America or Canada. I know his price is way to high....especially with no eq. The cabs he says are almost flawless. Anyone care to take a stab at what i should offer? I try to keep good speakers from leaving my "hood" when possible. I would give these good status....maybe not great but definitely good. I really doubt he and i are going to be able to come to terms because he says he has $1,400 invested in them. This would be very bad for him because i thinking these are about a $700 pair of speakers. Please anyone chime in and help with a decision. Thanks in advance.

Poor XR7s seem to get no love in the marketplace. A fairly local pair had been offered by a former McIntosh dealer, all applicable drivers professionally refoamed by the dealer himself. He'd acquired them from a client and the cabinets were about as perfect as can be.

After numerous listings and relistings on all the familiar online venues over the course of months @ $995 (local pickup only) which was damn near the cost of the refoam job alone at a reputable Mc dealer. I don't know whether they ever sold or not.
