McIntosh XR5 mid speakers

Hi Guys,

I was doing a renovation of XR 5 as they were in rather bad shape, finally I've hooked them up and got a question.

Everything works fine but I don't hear the mid bass speakers (036-031), I've tested them with a battery and they work, also tested them when removed the crossover and connected the battery also they move. As for the speakers, when I touch them when playing music/test tones they seem to vibrate but very little. Is this normal?

The crossovers were tested by a technician and he told me that they work flawlessly. Today I've hoked them without the MQ, but tomorrow I can connect that to my MA 6100.

Any ideas or the 8" mid just works that way?

XR 5 midrange operate from 250 Hz to 1.4 Khz. Very important frequencies Middle C or C4 to F6. Take the speaker and connect it directly to the the amp and see if you have sound with less than 1 watt input. Appox 1 to 3 volts.

One thing I've learned from owning a bunch of XR 5's is that they need lots of power. Your 6100 isn't gonna cut it. You'll need at least 200 wpc.
